ABOUT NTA UGC NET JRF:

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given the National Testing Agency (NTA) the responsibility of administering the UGC-NET, a test designed to ascertain whether Indian citizens are qualified for the positions of “Assistant Professor” and “Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor” in Indian universities and colleges.

Since December 2018 onwards, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has been administering the UGC-NET in computer-based test (CBT) mode.

Whether a candidate is given a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or is qualified for an assistant professorship depends on how well they performed overall in Papers I and II of the UGC-NET. The JRF award is not open to applicants who simply satisfy the prerequisites for an assistant professorship. Candidates who pass the eligibility test for assistant professorship must abide by the norms and regulations of the relevant universities, colleges, or state governments, as the case may be, for the hiring of assistant professors.

Every year, UGC-NET is conducted twice (June & December). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in 2020 and 2021, the UGC NET cycles were combined and held concurrently.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is holding the UGC NET December 2022 in the months of February and March 2023 in 83 topics, at chosen places throughout the nation, in order to regularize the UGC-NET examination cycle.
